Are You On A Journey?
by Rev. Siti Ade'Basha

Are You On A Journey? Many people say that they are on a journey. And they are. But,
there are two types of journeying. 1) to travel from one place to another 2) to go over or through Traveling
from one place to the other we can encounter delays or detours that may be inconvenient and not look like we planned. It can
be superficial and misleading. We can think that we are delving deep, but often delve only deep enough until the real discomfort
comes, then retreat to a safe zone. This is a detour.
To journey, to go over and mostly go through is to go into the deep dark places, into the muck and mire of who we are.
To go into those ugly places and see what we have put there, to clean those places. This journey is the equivalent to
Pandora's Box because we have no idea of the magnitude of what is there. Or how deep it goes or what creatures have
formed in the darkness. This journey looks so ugly at times. Yet, takes courage. It can suck us into it. We may appear
weak, wrong, unappealing. At this stage friends and loved ones who are not true tend to fall away. This can push
us further into the darkness but let them go. Because we are given the strength to continue. This type of journey can
last a few days or several years.
But, once we journey through, the light is so bright on the other side. The good can be so overwhelming. New people
come who are true at heart and strength. Different opportunities arise. Life begins to flow. This journey clears a way for
us to continue a journey of traveling from one place to another with minor detours or delays, and with few dark places.
I have been on a journey through for several years. I am finally able to see the light streaming from the other
side. I bless this going through, I am less judgmental, more grateful, more true and real with myself and others.
I have come to understand that what ever life brings is not right or wrong unless I say it is. Because everyone sees
differently, there will always someone who thinks I am wrong or weak. There will always be someone who thinks I am right or
strong. Because so many, when we are honest with ourselves, do care how we are perceived by others. It is such a gift or may
be reward, to see the beauty and light in myself. Journeying through is a liberating thing. Which journey are
you on? May we all have the courage to journey through & the strength to bask in the blessings of Streaming
Light. Siti
