As I begin to think about
the upcoming Convocation in October here at Isis Oasis, I reflect on the Convocation last fall. Each Convocation takes on
a life of its own and each teaches us in more depth the intricacies of the Goddess Way. It is exciting to contemplate the
many nuances we are going to bring forth about the Goddess Nuit, our Patroness for the Convocation, October 10-13, 2008.
Last year, deTraci and I
took Lady Olivia to three islands in Hawaii right after the Convocation - I have already written about that trip.
I did not include in that story, the outcome of an event that took place on the last day we were in Kauai .
A woman came to the temple
home of Catherine Stovall. Catherine created a lovely gathering in honor of Lady Olivia and was an excellent hostess. This
woman, by the name of Katherine, was a psychic who is well known for her amazing work. She asked me if I had white peacocks
on my land and I told her I did. Then she asked me if I was thinking about a person who could take over Isis Oasis to carry
on the work that I have been doing for thirty years, and I told her I was. She then told me briefly about a woman she
knew of that had wanted to begin a Retreat Center called the White Peacock, and proclaimed she would have her get in touch
with me.
Soon after I returned home
I received a beautifully worded e-mail from Robin Sol, who is the one that had wished to launch the White Peacock Retreat
Center. Investers had failed to come through and it was to have been in the Las Vegas area, where surpisingly, I was told
there are many spiritual people.
So after we e-mailed back
and forth a few times, Robin came to see me. She was a tall slendar blonde with a bright Goddessy aura and a charming manner.
She gifted me with a pair of white peacock earrings that blended well with my now white hair. She stayed on for some days
as we got to know each other, and finally it was determined that she should come and stay here, but where would she live?
Well, our tower, a two story
structure, was in need of repair, and we decided that if it could have a kitchen, it would suffice as a residence. It is quite
small with two 9' X 9' rooms atop each other. I had already added a bathroom but now I was to add a kitchen by building a
4 foot addition. Richard, who loves to work in earth architecture took on the job.
It is now almost complete
and Robin, who has been on the property, is waiting patiently to move in. It took an extra long time, months, to do the job.
It was discovered the tower was falling over and needed to be uprighted which required a retaining wall to be built and a
new foundation. During this process we discovered an old well underneath the tower and are making plans to open a space in
the floor to show this off. A 9 x 12 storage shed was ordered and erected nearby to serve as a large closet and a set of winding
stairs were ordered to replace the rickety wood stairs leading to the second floor.
The roof was leaking a bit,
so we are replacing the top of it which is shaped like a pyramid, with a skylight that will open out like a lotus. The kitchen
was tiled with real ceramic tiles called 'Cleopatra' at home depot where many trips have been made. A new table top stove,
sink and small refrigerater have been installed. A stained glass window will be added to the kitchen area, and the room painted
with gold paint. Richard who dislikes anything square, designed amazing curved counters and the whole addition has lots of
character. It is shaping up as a lovely place to live.
Robin travels a lot and wants
to host an alternative travel show on TV, so it was arranged that when she is not here the Tower could be rented to guests.
It should be quite popular.
Robin's job is promotion
so that Isis Oasis Sanctuary might become able to pay for itself. She is certain to be a wonderful addition to the staff at our temple.
We also added Erin, who is
a real animal person. I have waited a long time to get someone who was so knowledgeable. She works at Safari West and knows
how to get volunteers which we need badly. Both she and Robin wish I could build natural habitats for the ocelots, servals,
and bobcats that are housed at Isis Oasis. We actually have built a new habitat for our youngest ocelot, who we call Goddess,
utilizing glass instead of wire. Goddess is being trained to take walks and to be an ambassador cat for us. Erin might take
her to schools to talk about the endangered ocelots and how we might help them survive.
Another new person is our
electrician, Kevin, who begged to move in and we created a place for him by buying a vintage airstream trailer. It is really
the cadillac of trailers and we shall redo it to be extra nice. He is helping to add a lot of needed lighting to our
grounds and someday he shall rewire the ancient house I live in and also update the theatre's electric wiring.
The Grand Temple is looking
terrific with it's new giant wings, lotus pillars and all the new bas reliefs. A new art gallery is being created which
also has wings and a depiction of Ramses on a chariot, flanked by two vultures to help decorate the outside of the building
that was given to us a number of years ago. Part of it will be used to house art and the other part will be an animals
library and office and an insect zoo. I have always liked insects and think others will enjoy observing them in the habitats
we would like to create for them.
For years we have avoided
entering an area on the property that is like a little forest. We recently had all the poison oak removed and now can not
only walk in it but revel in it. It has become the Mythic Playground. Here among the trees you will encounter a griffen, a
sculpture of a cat, Kuan Yin, Masks on trees and various unique images will greet your eye. This is turning out to be a great
place for camping. It was used extensively during the Vernal Equinox event we had, put on by a young man called of all things,
Osiris. Many talented young people attended. Robin is creating what she calls Beltane Alchemy, another chance to use the mythic
playground which allows us to accommodate larger groups as the young people really like to camp.
So that should catch some
of you up on what is happening at Isis Oasis. You can see the events that we plan on our web site: http://www.isisoasis.org
Things are ever changing,
the younger set is finding its way to Isis Oasis, much to our delight. The Goddess is alive!
