Son of
Isis
January 23, 1965 - November 7, 2008
Crys O’Regan passed away on Friday, November
7, 2008. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, 20th November 2008 at 12 noon at The Heart of England Crematorium in
Nuneaton. His wife Vivienne O’Regan has requested that donations be made in his name to the Warwickshire and Northhamptonshire
Air Ambulance.
Isis-Sophia of the Stars was founded by Vivienne O‘Regan as an iseum within the Fellowship
of Isis in 1981. It was chartered as a Lyceum upon the founding of the College of Isis of the Fellowship of Isis in 1986,
making it the first lyceum. Isis-Sophia of the Stars functioned for nine years under the aegis of the FOI, offering both formal
and informal training and participating in the on-going development of the Fellowship of Isis during that period. The group
continues presently as a mystery school titled The House of Isis-Sophia of the Stars, but as Vivienne has written: "I
have just recently at Olivia's urging decided to have it re-listed and active again."
Until his passing, it was run under the joint administration of Vivienne and her husband, Crys O'Regan. They offered a
correspondence course, a bi-annual journal titled “The Veil of Isis” and a quarterly journal of news for members.
Crys also served in the Order Aurum Solis. The Aurum Solis is best known through the published
works of two of its leaders, Vivian Godfrey and Leon Barcynski - better known by their pen names, Melita Denning and Osborne
Phillips. Just as Crys and Vivienne O’Regan were early FOI members, so were Vivian Godfrey and Leon Barcynski. On January
30, 1994 Vivienne O’Regan was established as Administrator-General of the Aurum Solis by Melita Denning (Vivian Godfrey).
After Melita Denning passed away in 1997, Vivienne O’Regan became Prior of the Order, May 3, 1998. In January 2001,
Osborne Phillips (Leon Barcynski) acted as Grand Master, with Vivienne O’Regan as Grand Temporary Master and Prior,
and Crys O’Regan as Administrator-General. Vivienne writes: "We stepped down from our positions in April 2001 and remained within the Order until May 2002."
His interests were varied, displaying
an eclectic approach. Crys participated in SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence). He was a fan of the work of Irish
comedian Dave Allen and the writing of author H. P. Lovecraft. Crys worked in the Western Mystery Tradition and was
an active member of the Pagan Federation. While serving as IT Manager for the PF, he set up their first e-mail list for members.
Crys was known for his quiet strength and gentleness. He was an intellectual, a spiritual seeker,
an accomplished writer as well as a poet of rare sensitivity. A sample of his poetry is presented below:
Awakening
Bedtime has come
and gone
Day breaks, night falls into slumber
The shadows emerge from the embrace of night
The light tells
its secret,
And the night runs in fear
The deafening turmoil of darkness give
way to the songs of angels
Eyes dart from left to right
And life returns to those who sleep
Time starts once more
as dreams return home
And the stars have gone.
Day has broken, night is crushed
As darkness embraces the dawn.
“In the Name of Isis, Mother of the Sun, may his soul arise as Horus … and return
to his Heavenly Home.” (from the FOI Liturgy Ritual "Dulce Domum")
